Vampires used to be cool

Experts believe that this whole “Twilight” and “teen girl addiction” is nothing more than the population’s desperate attempt at finding something to do with themselves after Harry Potter ended.
Right now, most of the teen population is obsessed and pwned by the Twilight series by the first-time author, Stephenie Meyer. A more appropriate term to describe the fans of the series are the “cullenized fangirls” — since most of the Twilight fan population are girls, let’s just collectively call them fangirls…well of course, without leaving behind the assent that Twilight has some guy fans.
To tell you the truth, I didn’t actually handpick Twilight to be part of my own booklist, a classmate just recommended me the novel, with her labeling it as a good read. Seriously?
Looking at the book with an apple on its cover on a black background, I had a first impression on it as something emo-ish. Or something that Ryuk of Death Note would love reading. And so, I cracked the book open and started reading its first few pages.
The beginning of the story somehow brought to me some excitement. The whole question of how Bella Swan would accept and love Edward Cullen as a vampire was in my head while absorbing the beginning of the story.
But then, things started to get very cheesy. The plot starts to have its downfall when Edward and Bella began to produce so much cheesiness. I just ignored the thing and considered it as part of the romance.
But the story got an even worse cloudburst when Edward actually admitted to Bella that he’s a real vampire. Then Bella accepted that Edward was indeed, a monster…no questions asked, not even iffy looks and niggling. It was perfectly fine with her, knowing that her love interest was in fact a monster that could kill her anytime with a mere flick of his sharp fangs. If my love interest told me that she’s a vampire, I would reply her with a burst of laughter no matter how superpowerful and being an eerie stalker she seemed. I would first ascertain that it’s because of some reasonable explanation.
An attempt to do a film review on HSM3, to go to college, and to get a haircut

“Is that hardcore porn?”
“No. But how I wish it was porn.”
I went to the mall yesterday with some friends to watch High School Musical 3: Senior Year. The film is all about Troy and Gabriella, faced with the great expectation of being separated with each other as they go on with their individual directions after graduation. Apparently, the production uses its big budget to improve the cinematography itself compared to the other HSM films.
The story doesn’t actually kick in and is frustratingly shallow — completely focused on its target audience which won’t seem to care about the depth of the story. But what’s good about the movie and what gives it a good reputation is its ravishing and appealing dance numbers and performances.

Dad and I went to University of Sto. Tomas this morning to submit my application form. And as I hand my form to the guy at the Admission Office, he asked for another 2×2 pic and a photocopy of my birth certificate.
.
.
.
WTF. I suddenly knew that I forgot to bring my birth certificate. And so dad was kinda nagging me. The guy told us to come back when he have already completed the requirements. Gah. And so on the way home, I was accompanied by great traffic, so much exhaustion, and dad’s babbling nags.
——
I suddenly felt the urge to get a haircut. Meh.
I don’t know why, but this picture really inspires me to get a new haircut:
You mean weed?

The idea of creating a culture of peace and non-violence has been a long, open-ended story. And everyday, a chapter adds to it, making the account worse with tragic incidents or better with some comedic discourses. The concept of it creates human power and profusion in making a great deal about it. We seek for truth. We seek for what’s right. We seek for freedom. We seek for ideal state of relationship as absence of hostility. But above and more than all, what peace and non-violence is really all about is having lots of drugs, hugging a couple of tress, and going to Tagaytay with a flower in your hair and talking about things that only make sense.
You ponder the reason of that last statement. You ponder why you are reading this blog. You ponder this blog post’s title. You ponder the meaning of life. And it’s explained by that bag you found in your friend’s closet. You examined it, stared closely at it. And then, you smelled peace.
You are probably wondering why am I babbling about peace and non-violence right now. Just so you know, October 2 is declared by the United Nations as UN International Day of Non-violence. And part of the celebrations is the Essay Writing Contest by Ang Komunidad Para Sa Ikauunlad ng Tao, Inc.. And the awarding ceremony for that contest and different others was held last Friday, September 26 at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig. And why am I talking about this? Well, just because I luckily bagged the first place for the Essay Writing Contest, Filipino category, with my essay, “Kung Bakit Hindi Tayo Maililigtas Ni Superman Sa Karahasan”.
I didn’t really expect to win since my journalism teacher just asked the whole class to write an essay about non-violence in education and I just wrote what I thought was non-violence in education. And when my teacher told me that she’ll enter my essay into some contest, I just shrugged and hoped nothing at all. But still, it felt good going in front, receiving my award with a bunch of guys taking my picture, including the consul of Lebanon. Oh yeah, whoever he is, he was there and he took a shot of me.
Anyway, I’m still expecting for a series of unexpected events to happen specially in school. And this weekend, methinks cramming is the best way to get through the week and the week to come…
- Biology quiz about Annelida, Mollusca, Arthropoda, and Echinodermata. (this is why I hate Biology 3 — geeky animal stuff. I mean, I love animals but not their scientific names, gaddammit!)
- Two writing activities in English about the summary and reaction on Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy
- Reaction paper in Physics about a video my classmates watched (I wasn’t able to watch it) at school, probably about relativity, twin paradox and time dilation.
- Chapter Test in Math about the general formula and the sketch of a circle, parabola, and ellipse (in a Cartesian plane…it’s quite of a nosebleed). EDIT: The test was even more agonizing than being punished in Inferno. NOOOSSEEEBLLLEEEEED!!!
- The “font styles, effects, and dialog box with timer on the title bar” exercise in Visual Basic 6.0 in Computer Science.
- (ask classmates about other stuff a responsible student needs to be concerned of)
