Red Blanket

He wants to be a super hero as much as he wants to see one in real life. He wants to save cats, stuck in a tree. He wants to catch the bad guys and put ‘em behind bars. He wants to save the baby, stuck in a burning building. He wants to wear tight pants with his underwear worn the different way. He wants to save the world but as much as that, he wants to change it — put it into a different setting and write a better plot for it.

With a red blanket tied around his neck, he raises his arm as he raises his imagination. He punches the air, kicks it, and shoots it with his imaginary laser beam, emerging out if his palms. Then with a great flash of bright light and a choking burst of thick smoke, he sees his enemy dead. The boy is victorious. The earth is saved again from the forces of iniquity and chaos…

Such imagination already made him have the will to save and to change the unsystematic and messy world he’s moving on. He loves his world, he loves his society, he loves everybody he’s stumbling and mingling with. And one day, he says, he will save and change the world just like his favorite super heroes, always on the side of the greater good.

With his messed up and disheveled world, where politics is a total crap; where poverty is like a fire, burning every home, jeopardizing lives; the world cannot just devour his dreams of changing the world someday. Who knows? He might just be a great statesman eventually and make laws, favoring the greater good. Or with his will of saving and changing the world, he might just be a real hero someday.

Adapted from the short story I wrote for our school paper (to be released soon, hehe). The story was entitled Ang Adventures ni Harry Puter at Ang Pulang Kartolina. It was about a boy who had the desire to save the world.

Most of the time, great things come during our least expectations. Just like having a new blog.

I really didn’t feel like moving from my old blog to a new one until Christian gave me an offer that I cannot deny — to become his hostee. I was so excited so I applied right away. And then, within a few moments, I already got this new blog, Jmar.Asteeg.Net. And now, I’m in the process of looking for stuff to put into this blog…themes, plugins and all.

Meanwhile, if you know any awesome Wordpress theme that I can download to enhance this blog, just tell me, alright? Thanks! By the way, kindly update your links…that is, if you’re linking me.
